13 January. My friend Leigh. I am grateful for my friend Leigh. For my pioneering friend Leigh. She is a teacher, a sage, a leader, an inspiration. I am grateful for her honesty, her bravery, her sharing, her ear and her forever friendship. She has lived through some serious shit, and that smile is always there. She has taught me there is always a way. To fok maar voort. With style. And grace. And dignity.
13 December. There are few people in this world who always consider the needs of others. Always. I am so grateful for a friend, a little stick of dynamite friend who works like a demon, makes a real difference to those who really suffer in this world, is always there for her family, and still knocked on our door today with a most delicious meal. And my favourite cake. To be honest, the most welcome sight. H, you are a remarkable women. A true inspiration. And not only for your killer lasagne.
It’s fabulous to be out of your comfort zone. I am grateful to be learning something new from a talented gentleman who so willingly and so ably shares his wisdom, his knowledge and his talent. I am gaining so much, the least of which so far is an understanding of f-stops, shutter speeds and ISO’s. The experience is even sweeter because I’m sharing it with someone who understands exactly what my raised eyebrow means from the other side of the table. No words needed.
