9 November. Today I am grateful for a serendipitous meeting with a wise and gentle friend along a soul filled coastal track, a distinctive orange cap and most especially a sweaty hug.

2 November. I am grateful for a gentle squeeze from a friend. For her compassion, her genuine ongoing support and her authenticity. And for the solidarity of a silly pink wig. Year after fabulous year.

It’s fabulous to be out of your comfort zone. I am grateful to be learning something new from a talented gentleman who so willingly and so ably shares his wisdom, his knowledge and his talent. I am gaining so much, the least of which so far is an understanding of f-stops, shutter speeds and ISO’s. The experience is even sweeter because I’m sharing it with someone who understands exactly what my raised eyebrow means from the other side of the table. No words needed.

There is something about women and how we share. I am grateful to be surrounded by women who choose to celebrate life. In all its weird and wonderful and challenging ways. And for friends who genuinely open their hearts and their homes. ( And their champagne bottles). Even (or especially) on a school night.

I needed to feed my soul today. I am grateful I have the perfect place to do just that. And friends who feel exactly the same way. Who understand how it takes my breath away. Every time.

Today I am grateful for a talented friend who totally got my verbal, just a small retro something, brief for a last minute cake for Jem’s birthday tomorrow. A lovely lovely gracious lady who seldom says no and means it too. I am grateful for authentic genuinely kind friends who teach me to be better. I’ll always be a last minute queen. But better.

14 September. I am grateful for inspiring friends who are hell bent on doing something good for the world, who enable us all, who just get on with it. And who are determined to have a damn fun time doing it too.

I am grateful for a quiet moment of contemplation, a moment to pause, reflect, remember and give thanks. And for friendship and laughter and shared experience and understanding, which so beautifully filled the space left by contemplation.
